The EC175 is a 7-ton class medium utility helicopter being developed by Eurocopter and AVIC. The EC175 cooperation agreement covers the development, industrialization and series production of an entirely new helicopter.

And Z-15, chinese version, will be manufactured by AVIC for Chinese operators. Helicopter final assembly line is based at Marignane which received the chinese-made airframes.
Program milestones :
-The EC175 program has been launched in December 2005.
-Preliminary Design Review (PDR) completed on 5 December 2006
-Critical Design Review (CDR) completed on 5 December 2007
-Maiden flight on 17 December 2009
-Maiden flight of second prototype on 17 December 2010
The program is going on in order to obtain certifications in 2011 and deliveries in 2012.

Eurocopter announced today a baseline payload/range capacity:
- with 16 passengers at 135 nautical miles
- with 12 passengers at 190 nautical miles
EC175 details :
-Five-bladed main rotor and three-bladed tail rotor
-powered by PT6C engines (TBO 5000 hours)
-two wide pilot doors and two extra-wide sliding passenger doors
-eight large push-out windows allow 16 passengers and 2 pilots
-Under floor fuel system with a four-tank standard configuration carrying more than 2 300 liters. And one optional auxiliary fuel tank adds more than 350 liters for long range missions.
